Style history 2/2

Sensei Ryusho Sakagami was instructed to Kendo and Iaido by his strict grandfather as a child. He did not know, that he secretly repeatedly traveled to Okinawa to study Karate. He traveled with his friend from his high school, Yabiku Moden, a student of Sensei Anko Itosu, who was known later as a Kobudo expert. In Okinawa one gave him the note, that he didn't have to travel so far to find an excellent teacher, because Sensei Kenwa Mabuni lived very close to him in Osaka. This was in 1935. The Shito-Ryu style splintered after the death of Sensei Kenwa Mabuni into several great flows. Sensei Ryusho Sakagami was one of the older students and he called his group Itosu-Ha (in the meaning of "branch"), later Itosu-Kai, Tani-Ha or Seishin-Kai.
Later, another important teacher for Sensei Ryusho Sakagami was the Kobudo master Sensei Kenshin Taira, who frequently visited his Dojo. During these visits he inspired one of the most hopeful students of Sensei Ryusho Sakagami, the young Sensei Fumio Demura with enthusiasm for Kobudo.
Sensei Demura takes care our dojo since 1990.
